Teque Arepa Menu

Sorry, We are updating this restaurant menu details.

Arepas!! You can't go wrong with supporting this awesome family restaurant. The food is excellent and we recently bought 25 for our staff and they loved them, eventhough it was their first experience with Venezuelan food. Thanks for representing Venezuela here in the frozen north!!!

I work in Eden Prairie and struggle to find cheap, quick, delicious, non-chain restaurants to go to during my lunch break. I was trying to decide somewhere to go with my co-worker and on Urbanspoon I noticed a new restaurant close to work with good reviews. The name of this Venezuelan restaurant is Teque Arepa. They have a small and straight forward menu of arepas (think cornbread crossed with an english muffin), burritos, empanadas, sides and smoothies. I tried out their signature arepa which is filled with black beans, shredded beef, cheese and sweet plantains. They come with a garlicky mayonnaise/cream and hot sauce which are served in little cups. Both sauces are awesome and really tie the whole thing together. I also tried the beef empanadas which were also good with the sauce. If you are familiar with Eden Prairie Teque Arepa is located in the strip mall where Roly Poly used to be. It is a nice change of pace from the chains that dominate the area. Check it out. 612food.com

I had the #6 and it was absolutely delicious. I had the garlic and hot sauces on the side, and they were terrific too. Wife had the #15. She thought that it was good. Delicious meat, but a little too much cheese (3 thick slices, a bit overwhelming). It was nice that the arepas were made right then and there, as opposed to pre-made and then re-warmed. We scouted out the rest of the arepa menu while we were there, and found others that we will be back to try. A good, diverse menu of options. I really enjoyed this little, out of the way place. A change of pace that the SW Metro really needs .I'd really give it 4.5 stars, but that wasn't possible.

So here is a prime example of how great food succumbs to popularity and perhaps too much business and takes a hit on quality and service. Having traveled to Venezuela more than a handful of times growing up, I was overly ecstatic when I stumbled upon Teque Arepa about 3 months ago. Up until today the food was nothing short of 5 stars although their service is perhaps a 3 at best. Let me explain, their food is awesome but their wait times for their food is too long . But as a loyal customer (on two separate occasions I have taken their food back to my family in a different state...just because it was so good) I figured out a way around that. I started calling in my orders ahead of time and then driving over to pick it up 10 mins after the scheduled pick up time. This worked fine so far. Today I called the business 4 times but did not get an answer so instead I drove over. Upon arrival while placing an order, I called their number to notice that the ringing phone was being ignored. This is the first sign that the business is going down hill. Perhaps due to over popularity? Of course this can be fixed by adding one more person to their 3 person staff. I placed my order and went onto wait for 20mins at that point, 'Erwin' who I am guessing is one of the owners told me that there was only one chicken empanada. He offered to cancel my order but I asked to substitute my one empanada (one order of empanadas comes with 2 empanadas) with yucca. I have ordered yucca several times from here but I have never received the puny amount of yucca I have received in a order today (5 puny pieces). As I asked for my substitution earlier, I asked for an extra garlic sauce. The lady in the back looked like she was not happy that 'Erwin' agreed to give me one more because of the lack of one empanada. Also, I think I should mention that they offered a couple sitting a few garlic sauces and told them to ask for more if they wanted? Now I don't want to speculate but are they perhaps prejudiced towards 'ajo' lovers or perhaps towards.... Now coming to food today. The flavor of the chicken in the empanada and the arepa are far from what I have had here previously. Even the ajo was sort of bland. What happened to the authentic Venezuelan food I have had here over the past 3 months? Is this the Americanization of authentic ethnic cuisine? Sadness runs deep in my heart as I finish writing this review today. Memories of good arepas from Teque arepa in my head. Here is to hoping Teque arepa doesn't go the way of a lost culinary genius, sigh! Wake up Teque arepa, Wake up!! Focus on your roots of good food!!

Great place for delicious carry out. A lot of unique flavor packed into each arepa or burrito at a reasonable price. Garlic and hot sauce on the side just added to the surprise discovery this place was for me. Visiting in Eden Prairie twice in March and had lunch here three times and I can't wait to get back.

I got the traditional arepa #5, shredded beef, black beans, cheese and plantains. I've never tasted anything like it, it was delicious! I will be going back soon!

Well deserved five stars. Unbelievably fresh, high quality, true to classic favors. I can literally walk here from work which is AMAZING because I can't tell you how hard it is to find satisfying gluten free options that are not chemically enhanced "bread". Their meat is flawless- not fatty, just perfectly shredded. The veggies are fresh and it is not salty or greasy. The place is spotless. It is small so you won't get the sit down experience. Everything is made to order so it is fresh and awesome. I don't know what kind of drugs that other reviewers is on saying they're reheated from frozen. That is a blatant lie. There is a real tried and true cook back there that could only have learned the beauty of cooking her native homeland's dishes through generations of mothers and grandmothers handing recipes down through live demonstration. This is fantastic food and anyone who says otherwise needs to break out of bland mcnugget land. I am excited to try everything on the menu!

This seems to be good, real, venzualean food! I LOVED their chicken empanadas! Full of flavor, and they have a good crisp to them. These aren't like most empanadas, but I was pleasantly impressed! Definitely good enough to recommend to my friends!

Like when we lived in Venezuela without having to listen to Chavez on the television. Get the tequeños to start - perfect cheese and follow with an arepa (obviously!). The pabellón is so tasty I want to order another even though one filled me up! Black beans, white cheese, and carne machada. Que rico!!

New to the area, I stumbled upon this place as an inexpensive lunch option that wasn't the the typical chain fast food. The place was clean and tidy, the staff very friendly, and most importantly the food was delicious as stated in all other reviews. The man behind the corner told me this was the only Venezuelan restaurant in the state. I was there 1:30-2ish and I only saw one other customer while I was there. I don't review much but figured this place could use another positive review in addition to me spreading the word to coworkers.

Wanted something different for lunch. Very good food for less then 10.00. I got the number 6. Most food is gluten free. Very. good for you and different. Good people run the business. You should give it a try. They also cater.

I finally went here today. I had a roast pork and cheddar arepa and the mechada empanadas. Those were delicious. I could a platter, not a plate, platter full of those.

Didn't know what to expect from this place, but it was great. The food is sort of like BBQ meets Mexican, but then sprinkle in some unique flavor awesomeness. People are wry nice and give great recommendations. Make sure to get the garlic sauce on the side and I suggest the pabellon for your first arepa.

Amazing food and very friendly staff. Do yourself a favor and stop in for an Arepa or empanada. You won't regret it. And as others have mentioned here, get the garlic sauce! On a side note; the wait for your food can take a bit so if you're short on time you might want to stop another day.

Awesome food but the portions are too small for a regular person.. Would not trade the portion for taste though.

Family owned and operated. Mom is cooking in the back. Now that's what I'm talking about!! Shredded beef and passion fruit beverage were delicious. Oooo that bread! Looking forward to trying most everything on the menu. Very clean place. Friendly atmosphere. Portions were on the light side for the price, but plenty filling.

TequeArepa deserves 10/10 stars!! So allow me to qualify my decision! I am a foodie and have spent 10 years living overseas in Switzerland, Singapore, Manila and Tokyo as well as I have visited cities all over the planet!! My first adventure here and will be coming back forever! First you must understand it is a Venezuelan restaurant. Next Minnesotans need to be educated that it is not a Mexican restaurant but certainly has some common bonds with Mexican Cuisine. Next, remember the first time you went Chipotle and were blown away by the flavors and freshness compared to other Mexican food chains? Well then, prepare your taste buds for another revelation of explosive flavors and these come from the real deal, a Venezuelan couple and family. I dare to put anyone to the test to discern the absolute, best flavors and come up with a winner between Chipotle, a billion dollar company and TequeArepa, the next billion dollar company. My favorite part of tasting the extraordinary mix of flavors in a burrito like concoction with 2 amazing sauces of garlic and a hot sauce, previously not acquainted with my taste buds was the out of this world-Arepa with seasoned beef, plantains (by far the best secret and a few other rarified ingredients that will keep making me come back for more.) The best secret ingredient in this wonderfully hidden gem in Eden Prairie was the hostess, who was absolutely so knowledgeable about everything, but also was so engaging with each and every customer (which you rarely find these days.) She had a great smile, was extremely intelligent and had a beautiful Venezuelan radiance about her. I hope each and every person who reads this review will Visit this place soon!!

This is one nice place. You can't get Venezuelan everywhere and when you do you gotta try it. I've become a huge fan of these few and far between restaurants. So one of the main things is the arepas. We tried pork and beef, they were both very good and well seasoned. The garlic sauce is a must try as well. I loved their mango smoothie. Good stuff overall. When in the area do stop by here, it's very affordable and is really something unique since you won't find these in every city.

Was expecting more quality in just about everything. Had empanadas with cold centers, the hamon arepa had dry, rather bland meat, I guess the pabellon was decent. All their food is pretty expensive given the small portions and meh quality. Their fries with garlic sauce are worth every penny though.

First time ever tried Venezuelan food. The Owner helped me select the Arepa which is like a Sandwich. He suggested me Chicken with Avocado. They made a custom Mango Juice without Sugar for me. I tasted their normal Mango Juice also. it is really good. Try this for a Change

This is an example of yelp leading me astray. All the other reviews were fantastic, plus I had just been to Hola Arepa recently and loved it, so I was so excited to try another arepa. This place is located in a little strip mall. When I went in, no one else was in there. I asked the girl a few questions about what was popular and decided to get the pork and pepperjack arepa. Sadly, the pork was extremely dry, fatty, and tasteless. The cheese was just a slice of cheese stuck in the side of the pork. I expected shredded cheese, melted or soemthing. There were no other veggies or toppings, so it was very bland. The garlic sauce on the side was good, but seemed kinda heavy. I ended up throwing away almost the whole thing. What a disappointment.

Wow, I mean, Wow. Have you ever left a place after having such a mind-blowing meal that you are actually Happy? I mean, humming Happy. That is me right now while I type this review. My husband and I popped in for lunch. We tried Pabellion (shredded beef, cheese, plaintain, & black bean arepa), Rumbera (roasted pork and pepperjack arepa), Cheese and Guava Tequinos, and yucca fries with garlic sauce. The food was ridiculously good. Every bite. The beef and pork were both cooked to perfection. We'd never had Venezualan food so the texture of the corn tortilla on the Arepas was a new and welcome experience. We were enjoying our meal while planning what we are going to order on our next visit. It was simply that good. Everything cooked to order, fresh, and amazing. We will definitely be back.

Arepa you say? What is that you say? Think of it as a mix between a pulled pork sandwich at your favorite BBQ place and your favorite meat burrito. Or just think of it for what it is, a corn tortilla sandwich stuffed with deliciousness like shredded beef, cheese, and avocado. Teque Arepa is completely not what you would expect in Eden Prairie. Venezuelan street food in a strip mall that no one has ever noticed situated between two highways in EP - yes sir. The restaurant is pretty small, but renovated, clean, bright, and full of friendly staff. The menu is easy to read and understand. I picked up the Pabellon - black beans shredded beef, white cheese, and sweet plantains. Good stuff would get again. I also grabbed some Tequenos(cheese stuffed rolls) which are quite awesome, and a strawberry smoothy. The only thing I wouldn't recommend would be the smoothy. It was more like sugar water with some ice, which I guess is what a strawberry smoothy is, but I'd rather drive .5 miles down the street and grab a strawberry smoothly at Costco that is quite a bit better anyways. Overall, awesome lunch spot for the slightly adventurous among us. I hope they stick around for a while so I can show off my local "find" in the burbs!

Checked out this place on the strength of the reviews. Ordered the chicken and avocado arepa but added white cheese and plantains. Also had the yuca fries on the side. Flavors were great and the arepa was warm, fluffy and delicious. The only thing that could have been better was the addition of a little bit of salt to both the arepa and fries, that would have been perfection. Would definitely go back.

Seriously, can the owner(s) of Teque Arepa consider moving to my hood? I'll be your number one customer. Promise. Located in a random strip mall off of Flying Cloud, this joint is tiny with only eight tables or so. The menu is extensive like when eating out at Chinese restaurant, and there's about 100 ways to eat stir-fried beef (I like it best with pickled greens). I asked the cashier for a recommendation, and she suggested the Pabellon arepa. To compliment it, I also ordered the Yuca frits (fries), Carne Mechada (beef empanadas), and Chicha (made of rice and cow's milk). When in Eden Prairie... Ten minutes later, a staff member brought out my beautiful tray of awesomeness. Pabellon arepa (consists of shredded beef, white cheese, and sweet plantain slices): Deliciousness that's generously stuffed between something that tastes like corn-based English muffins. I haven't had many arepas in my life (boooo), but I can say it was a very memorable and palatable "sandwich." Yuca Frits (Fries): Slightly thick, yet crispy and not greasy! It also comes with a flavorful green dipping sauce. Carne Mechada: Even though I to try an arepa, these empanadas were the highlight of my meal. Like the Yuca Frits, they came crispy and not too oily. The thin skin allowed me to taste more of the beef. Why, oh why, did I not order more of these? Chicha: Slightly sweet and cinnamon-y, but a bit too thick. Even though I began to enjoy it every sip, I don't know if I would get it again. It's not really a drink to wash things down. Then again, I should've read that it's under the "smoothie" section of the menu. Other notes: -I'm not sure what their corn-like mascot is. He's also really high on caffeine. -Super clean, especially the bathroom. -The staff are super professional. I like how they call everyone sir or ma'am. Despite its tiny size, don't be deceived! The items on their menu pack plenty of big flavors that will get your money's worth. I'll be back!

No matter how good the food, it's not worth the wait on a lunch break. 20 minutes for a basic to go order is brutal. Don't look at how many people are in line. Look at how many people are sitting with no food in front of them or how many tickets are hanging the kitchen. Sadly, won't be back.

Do you like amazing food? Do you like amazing Venezuelan food?! Then this is the place for you!!! It's located in a strip center near EP Center - a little goofy in location, but it works! The place is pretty small, with about 8 tables, but has a crazy huge menu. We stopped for lunch on a Saturday and we got a Pabellon Arepa, Pollo Burrito and Carne Mechada Empanadas. Now what surprised me was the portion size, smaller than what I had envisioned, but it was PACKED with ingredients and FLAVOR! The burrito was flavor packed and didn't skimp on the ingredients either...it was the size of a football...literally! The arepa was smaller than I thought, but it was JAMMED PACKED with meat, beans and veggies...holly hell was that thing tasty! Amazing flavor profiles with the spices and slices of plantains #amazing. Stop by and grab a bit for lunch or dinner!!!

Have you bookmarked this place yet? No? You should. Unless you make it a priority to come here, it's one of those places that is so small and nondescript that you won't give it a second thought. But think about it you should. The flavor and how filling things are is pretty ridonkalous. The place looks like you are going to get your food quickly considering their set up. Your usual look at the wall, counter style quick service restaurant with many options and oh so colorful graphics (ie: their logo is a cracked out smiling corn thingy who looks like he's is pumped full of "Arriba! Arriba!"). But once you order, you wait. Just like a regular restaurant where things are made fresh, from scratch, and carefully prepared. It's nothing longer then your sit down restaurant, but based on how you order and the space itself, it throws you off mentally. So with that being said, get over it and enjoy. Arepas are basically a sandwich. Sure there are burritos on the menu but order the arepa. Many selections to choose from and we split a beef and a chicken (#'s105 & 106). Both amazing. We also split an order of the cheese and beef empanadas. The flavoring in what they do to their beef is awesome. And how about a major shout out to getting served empanadas that aren't all greasy? Just warm, tasty goodness. We finished things off with a order of the fried plantains with cheese. Who would've thunk it with cheese? They do in Venezuela I guess and I'm glad that they did. Like JT, I wish this place was in my hood but this place is so good, and since I now know about it, when I know I'm in the E.P. a stop will be probable. Oh and that mango smoothie I had? Awesome. I need to try the other flavors.

What a great find in Eden Prairie! Ian in town from Chicago and needed a gluten free option and followed Yelpers to here, so glad I did. Very bright and clean establishment with nice music in the background. I ordered the 105 without mayonnaise ( shredded chicken with avocado Arepa) and Yuca fries with the garlic sauce. The order was fast, hot, fresh and very good. I would definitely return. The owner was very helpful explaining the menu and offering recommendations.

Ever since I moved out of Minneapolis, I've been lost without my favorite downtown food trucks and restaurants being only a few streets away... thank goodness for Teque Arepa. I'm honestly surprised that this place is not completely packed at lunchtime. Come on, Eden Prairie! Where are your taste buds?! Of course, my fellow Yelpers were right and the #6 Pabellon arepa is fantastic, a great contrast with the sweet plantains and the savory shredded beef and beans. Top it with a side of their DELICIOUS garlic sauce and you'll be in heaven. No really, go with the garlic sauce. You won't regret it. In other news, I'm excited to eventually try more of the arepas but I just can't get over how good the Pabellon is so far. I've also gotten the yuca, which was pretty good especially for $1.50! Though I still dream about Brasa's yuca, Teque Arepa will do for now (especially dipped in some extra garlic sauce!) The staff is very friendly, location is clean and full of bright colors, and it's a great, quick lunch spot. Luckily, Teque Arepa is literally a 3 minute drive from my office so uh....looks like I'll be back here every day.

For someone who avoids chain restaurants but find it pretty hard to do so in Eden Prairie, Teque Arepa is a godsend. If they opened an outpost in Minneapolis, I'd probably become their number one customer. I'd also probably become arepa-shaped. Regarding the arepa, the #6 Pabellon is by far the most popular on Yelp. The combination of flavors - black beans, white cheese, shredded beef, and plantains - is unusual but rather tasty. The last time I had it, the arepa itself felt a little too gummy so I ended up only eating the filling. I like their empanadas much more. The Carne Mechada (beef empanadas) are my favorite. It's the same beef they use in the #6 Pabellon but without all the beef. Jonathan T was right; the thinner skin of the empanada becomes a great vehicle to taste all the beef. I also ordered the fish empanadas - not yet on the menu the last time I was there - and those were also very good! Shredded fish with a curry-type kind of seasoning. I also recommend the cheese empanadas, but you have to eat those ASAP while they are still runny and hot. Otherwise, they cool down and it's not as delicious eating a cooled hunk of cheese. Drink-wise, I love their smoothies. Contrary to what you think, they are mostly fruit, ice, and sugar water. This is a refreshing contrast to the food and makes me feel I'm not being as gluttonous as I am. I prefer the guava but I had a sip of the mango as well and that tasted fine as well. Yuca fritas are the cheapest I've seen anywhere! Order it and ask for both the garlic sauce and hot sauce. The garlic sauce could use a tich more salt, but it compliments the fries really well. Also, if you plan on getting garlic sauce, bring breath mints. I always order too much food here, but it ends up all in my belly because my tongue keeps demanding more. I've taken several friends here so far and they have become fans as well. Teque Arepa is inexpensive, delicious, and relatively fast. If you're a worker bee in EP, check it out!

This is my favorite place to grab a cheap, tasty lunch in the EP. Luckily, I know how to get here easily, because my GPS never works in Eden Prairie and I end up getting lost EVERY. SINGLE. TIME. Coming here my favorite thing to get is a domino empanada. Black beans and queso fresco together surrounded by crispy, yet soft empanada dough. Ohhh, yes. You get two to an order and somehow that's all you need. I wanted to try the yucca fries because they are something ridiculously cheap like $1.50 for a big order. Skip them, though - they're forgettable and are really just a vehicle for their green garlic sauce. THAT GARLIC SAUCE, THO! Okay, this stuff is dangerous in a lot of ways. 1. Because it's so f***ing delicious but 2. Because it's POTENT. It's so garlic-y, it's spicy. I swear that this sauce must be made almost entirely of pureed garlic cloves. And I'm totally okay with that because YUM. Sorry/not sorry to the person I'm going on a date with tonight because I might still have garlic dragon breath tonight even after all these mints and brushing my teeth a million times. ..maybe I'll convince him that we should make the drive out to the EP then we can both be in this same delicious boat.

I was directed here because it was the highest rated restaurant in my vicinity. I was so cornfused when I was trying to order because the menu is a visual mural not necessarily via words. The nice cashier was super helpful and walked me through ordering. These little sandwiches are gluten free, and taste amazing, you can get about anything you want. Only order one and some sides though, otherwise you may be verbally abused for ordering too much food. I was eventually applauded for making good decisions off the menu and had a great time! Totally would come back!

With a family member who has celiac disease, it is a challenge to find a place with a gluten free menu. Even if you can find a restaurant with a gluten free menu, the menu is usually quite small and extremely expensive compare to other dishes. Hence is it not usually fun for the 'gluten free' person when we go out. In comes Teque Arepa which is a quite a treat for my family. I cannot say enough how surprise I was when I found this place. This little shop/restaurant is on the 'north' side of Eden Prairie in a weird little place strip mall that most people would not know it even existed. Heck, beside all the burger/steak and chain restaurants, I would NEVER guess in a million years Eden Prairie even have a 'cultured' restaurant - bring on the hate messages... Teque Arepa's menu is big with lots of choices - ¾ of the menu is arepas. Arepas is a staple food in Venezuela and Colombia. It is corn cake which is made from corn flour. For those who need more description, it looks like a soft 'English' Muffin but it is gluten free. All gluten free mongers out there would rejoice! Here are my recommendations on the menu: * Arepas #6 - Pabelion: Shredded Beef, black beans, White Salty Cheese and Sweet Plantains. * Arepas #14 - Rumbera Hot: Roast Pork and Pepper Jack Cheese * Burrito #1 - Carne: Black Beans, Shredded seasoned meat and Avocado In all seriousness, anything that has shredded beef or pork on the menu is amazing. I would not hesitate to say they have the BEST roast pork sandwiches in the twin cities at this price range let alone being gluten free. Just get off your sofa and be more cultured and try some Venezuela's food. You can thank me later.

A friend and I went to this place on a whim. The location is a tiny space in the middle of a strip mall, wedged between a Salon and Yoga Studio on one side and a Seattle Sutton on the other. It is fairly easy to see from the road but a little tricky to get to -- you hae to pay attention or you'll have to go past it and circle back to get to it. Once there, you'll find a small place with maybe 9 or 10 two-person tables. Its pretty small inside. Service is good, but you'll have to wait as each order is made on-demand. The quality of the food is what is special here. I've had arepas from Holy Arepa food truck, and these were right up there in terms of quality -- they were well-cooked, with a crispy, crunch outside, and a soft middle, not at all greasy. The same can be said for the delicious empanadas. The fillings were excellent quality, all of them were tasty, whether the cheeses, black beans, or meats. My colleague is a picky eater, and enjoyed both the arepa (Pabelion) and the empanadas (chicken, beef, White cheese, and black beans+white cheese). This is a great little spot to grab an off-the-beaten-path lunch, which I highly recommend.

This is a hidden gem in a strip mall in EP. Very good Venezuelan food, which is kind of a cross between Mexican and Cuban. The owner was gracious and patiently walked me through the menu. I ended up eating a shredded beef platter with rice, beans and plantains. As other Yelpers have pointed out, ask for the garlic sauce! The hot sauce is also very good.

If you are trying to stop in for a quick bite for lunch beware! Look, I'm here on business from Chicago so I appreciate any ethnic food I can find in Eden Prairie, MN. With that said, I was pleased to find an arepa spot not too far from my office. I was planning on stopping here before my flight back home today. I came with a coworker who was a bit skeptical because it was authentic Venezuelan cuisine. No exaggeration we waited 27 minutes to get our food and only had three people ahead of us in queue. Although they weren't stoked in about 1/3 of their food (see the coming soon sign), I was impressed with their arepas (had the 106) and empanadas (shredded beef). What killed us, however, was the terrible turnaround time from order to service. The main guy was apologetic about the wait, but it's always that way from what I understand. I wish I would have known that or looked at the reviews more carefully. Bottom-line: good food for the area, but unbelievably slow service.

My heart beats the merengue rhythm whenever I think about Venezuelan food and now I've found a muse close to home. I love this place! The smoothies are so fresh and fluffy. I have tried 8 types so far with each better than the last, but my favorites are soursop and mango... Though passion fruit isn't far behind. The fried yucca is a favorite as are the plaintains. The best part of all is the tequenos with guava- the perfect queso blanco saltiness with guava sweetness. Of course, you can't miss the Arepas... Each better than the last. You can't go wrong anywhere on this menu. Disfrute!

Grabbed some food to go yesterday and was pleasantly surprised. It was my first time having this type of food. While I liked almost everything, the one thing I didn't enjoy where the yuka fries. They just weren't for me. The empanada was really good. Something I'll easily order again. The arepa I had was the pork and tomato. To me, it needed something to add some more flavor. It wasn't bad, just needed something more. The garlic sauce was great and went well with everything. I wish the portion was a bit more with that sauce, but I'll just ask for more next time!

GO. EAT. HERE. NOW. REALLY. We ate here for lunch yesterday for the first time (Saturday). We ordered the #106 Arepas without black beans. Also a chicken and cheese Arepas along with a mango smoothy. More often than not, shredded meat is dry but not here! These sandwiches with the white cheese were delicious. Garlic sauce is amazing and don't be afraid, it's not very garlicky, it's just so flavorful. Everything is gluten free if you care but who cares when it tastes this good. The mango smoothy was also very good. Stop reading already and get over there. You won't be disappointed.

Ahhhhhhhmazing! I followed other people's advice and got the number 6 (shredded beef, plantains and white cheese) with garlic sauce. I have never had an arepa before, but this was amazing. When I go again, I will probably get the garlic and hot sauce. I would've liked a bit of a kick with it. But like others have said, the garlic sauce is to die for. This is a perfect little place for lunch. I hope everyone has a chance to discover it.

I have never had Venezuelan food before, but this food was phenomenal. Plenty to eat and everything we tried was great. It was nice to eat something different for once. Everything tasted fresh. I highly recommend!

I've only had arepas once before, earlier this year at uber-trendy Hola Arepa in South Minneapolis. Teque Arepa is considerably simpler in comparison. The environment is unpretentious yet festive and friendly to the point of almost being garish. The service was just as friendly; the guy behind the counter offered a substitution in their popular #106, the Pabellón (pork instead of beef). When my food came to the table, it was wrong but I didn't notice because I was too busy munching on the hot and crispy fried yuca (the sauce was tasty but could use a bit more garlic oomph). Friendly guy deftly brought out a bowl of the black beans, white cheese, and fried plantain that the cook had left off the arepa. It was a little bit dry at first, but I chalk that up to the missing beans not adding their moisture to the mix. Overall, a good experience; the mistake is easily forgivable since he noticed and quickly remedied it. This is a great alternative to the typical fare in Eden Prairie.

Excellent service, excellent food. As much as I love venturing into Minneapolis for good eats, this place is only a 8 minute drive from my place in the west suburbs. I have been their twice and have had the Pabellón, beef empanada, yuca fries, and their fresh fruit smoothies (guava and papaya). I rate a place almost always by the meat, as I have found places to lack in flavor and moisture. Their shredded beef is absolutely amazing with enough salt and aroma to keep me coming back for more. My insider resources told me they make their shredded beef every day in the morning, so it is not even beef made from the day before that has been cooled and reheated. Thus, the succulent deliciousness that is their shredded beef. I look forward to trying other items on their menu, I imagine I can't go wrong!

Delicious! This is my new favorite spot in Eden Prairie. I recommend #106 Arepa and the soursop milkshake. You won't be disappointed.

Very friendly and quaint lunch spot. Had the beef arepa, beef empanadas, black beans and plaintains. All very delicious and quick to serve. It's great to have a place like this in Eden Prairie! The yucca fries are a little dry but still good. Hidden gem :)

Very good and authentic Venezuelan food... ask for the chicha, it's like Mexican Horchata but sweeter and more dessert like!

Amazing! Little puffy dough buns of heaven! Great little place tucked away next to hot yoga in a strip mall. You'd never think to stop.....you should! Chicken, beef, pork.....doesn't matter. Had them all and they are all great. Get the Yuca fries as well.

Tonight was our first time eating supper there. We both really liked what we ordered. We are definitely going back and trying something not so safe. Look at the pictures on both walls to help you decide what to order. Just what Eden Prairie needed a Venesulian restaurant !!

I got shredded beef with plantain and white cheese in soft dough. Then I got yucca fries and black beans. I was stuffed and happy. The food is so tasty. It's just a little takeoutish kind of place. They have some tables and I would eat there in the summer but in the winter I'd rather just grab and go. I really like the food here.

Went here after reading the reviews on Yelp and have no regrets! Arepas are really good. Hubby had #6 and I had the vegetarian #17. Both were good, nice flavours, the bread/bun was something we never had before, it was soft and a little chewy at the same time. Flavours were good, though I ended up putting a bit of hot sauce and garlic which made it very sumptuous. Yuca fries are nice and crispy. Do get both the sauces along with your food. We also had one guava smoothie and a Papaya milkshake. Both were execellent. Would definitely come back to try other stuff! You do have to wait for a while, about 10 mins, everything is made fresh on demand.

I have to jump on the bandwagon here and say this place is pretty great. Went in with low expectations and came thinking about what I will order next time. At first I thought the portions looked small, but this is hearty food and by the time we left, I was certainly not hungry. My wife and I shared a few items and they were very different but both really good. They should bottle and sell their garlic sauce for sure. Wow. Nice change from the typical EP franchise.

Slow and pricey. The beef and pork arepas are tasty but service slow and indifferent. There were only six customers there and we had to wait about 20 min. Since they do not accept my Amex Card I will not return.

Why wasn't this place packed at the noon hour? Seriously good food. I also had the #6 - beef, black beans, plantains and cheese and it was excellent. I opted for the hot sauce which was as good as the addictive garlic sauce sounds. Beverages are in a small refrigerator in front of the register where you order. A definite will return when I am back in the area. Service was polite and friendly.

I felt obliged to update my original review on two counts. 1.) Having been there about 15 times since my first review (yes...do the calendar math), I feel I can speak to the consistency. 2.) I've now tried just about every arepa on the menu, so I can speak to the variety. Every single time I leave Teque Arepa, I leave happy and know I'll be back. The service from Erwin (the owner) is always pleasant and genuine. The place is always clean. But the food...the food is ALWAYS fantastic! I'm not sure what kind of black magic the lady in back is employing, but I've vowed to go back there and hug her someday. Now I will say, if it's your first time going...order the #6. It's unique and delicious. However, having tried most of the other arepas, I can truly say you can't go wrong. The #16 (La Sifrina) is their take on a chicken salad and is addictive. The #14 & #15 (Rumbera and Rumbera Hot) have a base a flavorful pork shoulder and should also be tried. The #18 (Full Equipo) is like an egg mcmuffin on steroids...steroids that also add flavor! If you haven't tried this place, PLEASE GO!

I absolutely loved this small, local, family business. I'm always searching out new foods and places away from the franchise, and found Teque Arepa and I'll for sure be back. Never had an arepa before.. So good! I went with the #6 arepa, guava smoothie, and fried cassava yuca.

We went there one time and the arepas were really expensive ,but we decided to buy it anyway.Even though the service was not good the first time we decided to go again.Horrible service.I walked in and one of the workers was talking on the phone we waiting for a few minutes and he completely ignored us, we decided to sit down and they did not attend us for more than 15 minutes. We decided to leave and they did not look like they cared.

After reading the reviews about this place, I was a little skeptical but my mom really wanted to check this place out. We ordered just the right amount of food without feeling overly stuffed. The food did take a while to get to our table so just be prepared for that. We order one shredded beef arepa, chicken empanadas, yuca fries and tostones. The only thing I didn't care for were the tostones, not much flavor. Will go back again to try other things on their menu.

wow!! This is my first time having venezualan food and it is amazing! I ordered 105 and 106 and some extra plantains and everything was completely delicious. The girl at the counter was very friendly aswell and great at helping me decide what to get. I am coming back here and bringing some friends so they can taste how delicious the food here is.

Delicious fresh Venezuela style food! This place is my new favorite and 90%of the menu is gluten free! The little sandwiches are packed with flavor and really fill you up. The yucca fries are crisp and tasty. The only complaint I had was that it took a little long, but they are new. Oh and don't forget a fresh fruit smooth or shake for dessert!

Tried Arepas for the 1st time and loving it !!! shredded beef & chicken & roast pork all flavored wonderfully. We also tried the Chicken Empanadas & cheese Tequenos which were delightful. Portion is medium packed w meat, we ordered 5 things for 3 ppl. Smoothies are fruity tasty and there are many choices. Definitely will be back for more. Make sure to ask for the garlic & hot sauce :)

I'm seriously impressed, great food, great price, friendly staff and clean area. I never thought I would find a Venezuelan restaurant anywhere outside of South America itself yet here it is in Eden Prairie. I highly recommend this for anyone looking for a great meal at a reasonable price.

This place (as the name suggests) specializes in sandwiches made with arepas. I was more accustomed to the flatter Colombian arepa, whereby this place uses a more biscuit-like one which they split open and stuff with fillings. I had shredded beef which was moist and flavorful plus a drink that was lemonade with sugarcane. Very good and I'm sure to add it to my lunch rotation.

So good!!! Made to order, the carne machado was very good. Just the right portion. And the chichi smoothie!!! Tastes like rice pudding. Definitely coming again.

The people in this place are amazingly friendly and the food is excellent. Stayed at the Courtyard and while checking Yelp this was the first thing to pop-up. Is a 1 minute walk from the hotel. My first time trying Venezuelan food and I'm a believer. Holy cow! The catira (chicken and cheese) arepa was beyond this world and then I added the garlic sauce...And now I want to move here!

Super Yum!!!!! This place is soooo good! I found it on Yelp and went for a quick dinner on a Saturday night... Then came back for lunch on Sunday :-) In the two meals we tasted: We had the #6 and the #5... As well as chicken and cheese Empinadas... All of it was delish. My personal favorite was the #5 with queso blanco. The smoothies are also really good! (my favorite so far is actually the mango milkshake) Whatever you do... Get here soon and be the first to bring the rest of your friends!

This gem is hidden in a not-so-obvious location, but hopefully people will make the effort to give it a try. It's a tiny Venezuelan sandwich spot that serves a wide variety of Arepas. Very reasonably priced and sized - perfect for a quick lunch. I got the pork with cheddar. The garlic sauce is delicious on it (its kind of like an aoli). I highly recommend!

I discovered this place on Monday and have come Tuesday and Wednesday. THATs how good it is. Unless you've been to Venezuela and had a grandmother cook you arepas from scratch, you will not have had a better arepa in your LIFE. Excellent, made-to-order meals for a reasonable price. By far the most authentic Venezuelan in town!

Ummmm, YUM! I recommend! Everything we got was delicious. Try the #5. Near Subway and Corepower in the Crossroads center. Don't miss out!

It's decent and interesting alternative. But now they jacked up the prices and when the menu item says it comes with plantain slices, apparently that's a lie. They argued that it didn't when I asked. But clearly it was supposed to, what a weird place.

I ate here three straight days. Teque is so amazing. Completely different than anything you'll find in the food desert called Eden Prairie (sounds like heaven but has completely unacceptable food). I had the #2 Chedder and Beef, the #6...something yummy, and the #2 Pollo burrito. ALL were incredible. Seriously. And under $6 for any of those entrees. The best part? Their garlic sauce. Heaven in a container. In addition, Yucca Fries for $1.50. Think Brasa like yucca fries but at 30% the price. In EDEN PRAIRIE. Thank you lord. When did I get so religious?

One of the better pork sandwiches I've had in Minnesota. And the fact that it was served on, essentially, a delicious corn muffin is a bonus. Also: their garlic sauce is to die for. If it were spicier, it'd be a great stand-in for Peruvian aji sauce.

Delicious! Been here 5 or 6 times now, I get the 106 and it is so good. Great food and friendly staff (guy up front). Highly recommended.

The trouble with suburbs in general, and those in Minnesota in particular is a lack of restaurant variety. Sure, you can find Italian, Mexican, and Chinese, but beyond that it's slim pickins. Teque Arepa is a much appreciated exception. The food was fresh, tasty and pleasantly different. I'll be a regular!

Teque Arepa's options are expensive for such small portions. I thought the food was okay but not fresh. Reheated from frozen. (not the best and not the worst)

  • Carlos G.

excellent arepas with the most friendly staff. I walked in there minutes before closing and ordered a beef and a chicken salad arepa. These are filled very nicely with yummy fillings. I am mexican so I am always looking for spicy which these lacked, however they were still tasty. I also got the lemonade with cane juice, man that was good and satisfying. I will return soon. Price was not bad either for 2 arepas and a drink : $13

This place is so good I just had to write another review. Service is so good and the food is just plain awesome. They pack in the ingredients - which are fresh and new and so flavorful. Can't say enough good things, it's a gem.
